Sooo…the day finally came for our little man to go to school (daycare). It is, for every parent, probably the worst feeling ever to drop off your child at first with a non-family member. Mom has had him at work for the last 3 weeks and Kix has stayed with Nana and Dad a few days, but we knew this time would come eventually.
Mom thought little Kix must have been going through yet another growth spurt this last week, so we had not been sleeping too much at night, and when I say not sleeping I mean the I found my cell phone in the refrigerator kind of not sleeping. This probably added to emotional reaction we were having to sending him off. Mom spent all Sunday night, snuggling Kix and prepping his first adventure away from home. We packed his lunch, packed his favorite soccer blanket and his birdy sound machine. Dad and Mom both drove to the daycare calling each other the whole way second guessing that he was too young, that there was a better alternative, and just flat-out we can’t do this. Kristin, his sitter, met us at the door and Mom quickly went over a mile long list of likes and dislikes. She was very nice and encouraged us to call.
Which we DID!
We had great reports from her all day long. She said, “He is a really great baby. Very calm and has not even cried.” This was great to hear and we were so proud of him. He even took a 2 hour nap. Wow! We could not wait for 5:00 pm and we both raced to pick him up. We scooped him up in our arms and he got to ride with Dad on the way home. He held Dad’s hand and listened to music on the way home. He must have had a tiring day, because he slept in Grandas arms for almost an hour after eating when we were finally home. He was pooped. He had a great night sleep and he is ready for his next days to come. Mom and Dad cant wait for the weekend!!!
