So, we new the day would have to come but we were not prepared to feel this sad. Tuesday, 5:45 am, the alarm chirped and dad was up and in the shower. After a hundred kisses we sent dad to work as Kixton and I sat in the living room and counted the hours till he would return. We decided to take a trip to Mommy’s work, show off the boy and pass the time. Kixton was a perfect angel as I packed him up and headed to 25th and Delaware. Driving was a bit slower, rounding corners at 10mph. I arrived at Matchbook safely and brought him in. Everyone was so excited to see him. Johnny held him with stiff arms, as Kixton made some barking noises. We did a few hours of work and then hit Steak and Shake for some burgers. Although we kept busy, we missed daddy.

We decided we would make a surprise visit. I called him to see where he was and our hearts broke as there was no answer. We went anyway and I parked next to his car. I fed Kix man in the back of the car and gave him a quick change. Just then we got a call, “Dad had looked out the window and saw our car.” He said he would be right down. Dad gave him lots of kisses and although we only had a few hours till he returned home, we felt happy we were able to see him on his first day away from us.
